how does a genie control work?

Question by music&drama: how does a genie control work?
well i have a genie control for my garge door, but a delta receiver. i’ve heard that genie and delta are not compatible, yet my genie control still works on my garage. if the receiver doesnt accept the code from the control, then what part of the garage opener does?

P.S. if genie controls and delta receivers are compatible, please tell me how to program a control that i recently bought.
