With the battery pre-installed, I do wonder
how long before the battery needs to be replaced ???

Installation took me 5 hours, this includes removal of old unit and beefing up new attachment points. This unit is pretty slow. Takes 12 seconds to go up or down. My 22 year old chain drive took 10 seconds. Very quite I think. The keyless wireless unit is not included. This costs another $27. My old keyless wasn’t compatible with this opener. Instructions could be better. After assembling the track, flip it over before mounting it on the motor head assy. Also, twist both of the white with black stripe wires from each eye together and then do the same with both white wires before inserting into the head assy. Otherwise it’s pretty good

We purchased this item to put into a home we just bought. Among other things missing the previous owners took the garage door opener. So we shopped around and found this model. It was what we were looking for at the price we wanted to spend. I ordered the item and it was delivered on time. We then proceeded to call a company to install it for us. A local garage door company charged a reasonable price for installation. The only thing the installer said was an issue was the wires coming from the senors to the wall weren’t long enough. We have been in the new house for two weeks now and have had no problems with the opener. This model is exactly what it states to be. It is functional and very fast. Our previous home had a loud motor and was very slow. This one is on the quiet side (not silent) and very fast. It also has a good signal reach on it so you can open it when your further away. We are satisfied with the product and would recommend it for others. Good price for the product.

This is my first review, so please bear with me. This garage door opener installed without a problem and works great! I definately recommend buying this based on price, ease of installation and its quiet operation. A couple of things to point out; this unit is for a 7′ door, it will not fully open an 8′ door; Before beginning the installation, read the instruction manual for any bracket mounting materials you will need.

one tube is all you need, but you get 3, October 16, 2010

This stuff works great. The people that are saying that there isn’t enough grease in the tube fall into 1 of 2 categories:
1) they have a non-standard exceptionally long screw drive
2) they are putting on way too much

I ran a thin bead down the entire length of the of the screw drive and then turned around and ran a 2nd bead nearly all the way back down. There is plenty in here. And you get 3 tubes. There’s no way you should need more than a tube-and-a-half if you’re extra generous – I could have gotten away with less than 1 tube. The drive and new carriage (which is my I bought this in the first place, to lube it up after replacing my broken carriage) works great.

High priced for the amount you get, July 21, 2010

2.25 ounces – this is very expensive compared to the 10 oz. tube of low-temp garage door lubricant that Amazon sells. The other reviewer was right, three tubes barely leave a bead on my two garage doors while supposedly two tubes would have covered them. The screw needs a heavy coating to last a year.

Excellent lubricant — terrible value for your dollar, September 4, 2010

Genie GLU-3 Screw Drive Garage Door Opener Lubricant

Pros:

- excellent lubricant – 3 tubes in the package.

Cons:

- 1/4 ounce tube isn’t quite enough to grease the entire drive-screw of my Genie garage door opener, but 2 tubes is too much.

- absurdly over-priced at nearly $10 per ounce – ten times as much per ounce as Genie’s Lubriplate 10 OZ Low Temp Lithium Garage Door Grease, which is $1 per ounce. See Customer Images for size comparison of tubes. (Grease from both products is white and has the same consistency; it seems to be the same grease.)

Other:

- previous versions of this product had black grease, but the last (and final) batch I bought was white.

Summary:

Although this is excellent lubricant, it’s a terrible value. Buy the Lubriplate instead. Search Amazon on: Lubriplate
